| A Tiny Shift In Connecting
Schools
"Our mission is to advance education through access to the
Internet in under-serviced schools and communities by
providing equipment, services, technical
expertise and assistance to educators in areas of computer and Internet use.”.
Participation
We
currently are laying down
the foundation of "A Tiny Shift In Connecting Schools" . We are
doing "fun" things such as writing constitution/by-laws, formulating day to day
policy and raising awareness that inlcudes public events in 2012.
We intend to write a financial system that is detailed, open and
transparent with tracking so that everyone can follow our money
trail. We hope to raise much of the capital needed the old
fashioned way.. WE WANT TO EARN IT. One plan is to write useful
software packages that we will market as free ware using "Open Source"
as our model.
If you are in the Hamilton, ON, Canada area and
have roots with areas where we wish to connect schools such
as in the Canadian Artic or Native Reserves, Haiti, Kenya, South
Africa, Afghanistan, Pakistan or other areas that need access,
please contact us to join our Steering Committee . There is a screening process to ensure that
your philosophy and objectives fit that of "A Tiny Shift In
Connecting Schools". If
you live elsewhere, you are welcome to participate as well. We
have four types of membership classifications that you may be interested
in as defined in our constitution/by-laws. They are:1)
Full members are those persons who have successfully
completed an interview process, regularly attend meetings, and have
signed a membership card thus agreeing to the mission, goals and
values of “A Tiny Shift in Connecting Schools”. Full
members may vote and hold office. Full
membership will be revoked if a member does not comply with
membership conditions unless extenuating circumstances apply which
need to be approved in writing by the board of directors.
2)
Associate members are persons interested in furthering the
objects and mission,
goals and values of “A Tiny Shift in Connecting Schools”
to perform specific tasks as determined
by the board of directors. They may not vote nor hold office.
3) Partnership members are organizations that “A Tiny Shift
in Connecting Schools” has a written contract with to assist in
the delivery of our mission, goals and values. Members of partner
organizations do not vote nor hold office in “A Tiny Shift in
Connecting Schools”unless they become full “A Tiny Shift
in Connecting Schools” members.
4)
Public members are any persons interested in following or
assisting in our activities without any
formal connection to “A Tiny Shift in Connecting Schools”
. They may not vote nor hold office. To contact us, press here.
